Where Do You Want Your Daughters To Soar?
Creators and Innovators Club (CIC), a middle school robotics club for girls, invites Whatcom County to their culminating event. Come see the club members’ final projects and listen to special guest speakers Julia Aiken, snowboarding Industrial Engineer, and Mary Elliott Keane, founder of The Bellingham Foundry. The event will be held at Kulshan Middle School on Friday, April 1st from 5-6pm. Attendance is free.
CIC is made up of girls who are passionate about increasing their knowledge in robotics and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math). By building robots, these middle schoolers have spent the last three months practicing leadership, using critical thinking, and increasing their knowledge in STEM.
Creators and Innovators Science Club: A Critical Solution
Right now, women are a minority in robotics and STEM. Girls need support to encourage their participation in STEM fields (NSF.gov, 2013). This is the second year since this program’s inception, hosted by Kulshan Middle School. The original estimate for girls in the pilot program was 5-10 students; over 70 girls actually joined (1/5 of the middle school’s female population).
Donate to the girls creators and innovators club to create a better future for girls in STEM. Please contact leader Sydney Cole for more information, firstname.lastname@example.org , or go to the web site at www.CreatorGirls.com.
